Homemade Modelling Clay Recipe
Subjects > Hobbies (Search) > Modelling Clay (Search)
I use a homemade clay that keeps for a long time in the fridge in a
plastic container with a tight lid. I think I got the recipe from this
site a while ago. It uses unsweetened, flavored gelatin so it smells
good too, and you can make any color depending on what flavor you use
(except the lemon comes out pretty colorless). It's easy to make.
- 0.3 ounce package of sugar free gelatin
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup salt
- 4 Tbs cream of tartar
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2 Tbs cooking oil
Mix the dry ingredients in a pan. Add the boiling water and cooking
oil. Stir over medium high heat until the mixture forms a ball. Place
ball on waxed paper to cool. Knead for a minute or so while still warm.
Store the modelling clay in an airtight container.

Ingredients
- 400 g flour
- 200 g salt
- 2 tee spoons alum powder
- 1/2 l boiling water
- 3 table spoons oil
- food colour
Preparation
Mix the flour, the salt, and the alum powder. Add the boiling water, the oil and the food colour. Knead well.
If the modelling clay is not in use, it should be sealed air-tight to prevent drying.
